GAME RULES
BEAR DIVISION
September 1, 1999

Law I - THE FIELD

  1. Dimensions
    1. The Field of play shall be rectangular, its length being not more than 50 yards, nor less than 40 yards and its width not more than 30 yards, nor less than 20 yards. The length in all cases shall exceed the width.
    2. The U.S Youth Soccer recommendation :
      1. Length: 50 yards Width: 30 yards
  2. Markings
    1. Distinctive lines not more than 5 inches wide
    2. A halfway line shall be marked across the field
    3. A center circle with a five (5) yard radius (10 yard diameter)
    4. Four corner arcs with a two (2) foot radius
    5. Goal Area : Three (3) yards from each goal, and three yards into the field of play.
Law II - THE BALL
The ball is to be size three (3)
Law III - NUMBER OF PLAYERS
  1. The maximum number of players on the field at anyone time: Four (4)
  2. SUBSTITUTION
    1. On any injuries
    2. On any throw in, any goal kick, after any goal, at the beginning of each quarter
    3. All players are to play a minimum of 50% of the game.
Law IV - PLAYERS EQUIPMENT
  1. Footwear: Can be tennis/sneakers or soft (rubber) cleated soccer shoes.
  2. Shin guards: MANDATORY!
  3. Uniform: Kings Park shirt, black shorts and green and white socks.

  4. No jewelry is to be worn. Earrings are to be removed, if this cannot be done cotton balls are to be taped over the points. Eye glasses should be removed, or sport glasses worn.
Law V - REFEREE

    The referee is:

  1. The official time keeper.
  2. Required to enforce the game rules. All infractions are to be briefly explained to the offending player.
  3. Required to submit a sportsmanship form for all games.
    A referee will be scheduled for all games. If a referee does not show for a game a parent or coach can substitute.

Law VI - LINESMAN

    None required

Law VII - DURATION OF THE GAME

  1. The game will be divided into four (4) equal quarters of 10 minutes each
  2. There shall be a 2 minute break between quarters 1 and 2 and quarters 3 and 4.
  3. The duration of the break between quarters 2 and 3 will be 5 minutes
Law VIII - START OF PLAY
  1. The ball must be kicked forward
  2. It can be kicked by a second person after it has traveled one revolution.
  3. The opposing team shall not be closer to the ball than 3 yards at kick- off.
Law IX - BALL IN AND OUT OF PLAY

    As per standard FIFA rules

Law X - METHOD OF SCORING

    A goal is scored when the entire ball has crossed over the goal-line between the goal-posts.

EXCESSIVE SCORING
The Club strongly discourages "running up" of a score during any game. If one team is winning by a goal difference of 3, the coach of that team should take the necessary action to prevent the goal differential from increasing.
Law XI - OFF SIDE

    The off side rule does not apply

Law XII - FOULS AND MISCONDUCT

  1. All fouls shall result in an indirect free kick
  2. The coach must explain ALL infractions to the offending player
  3. No cautions or cards shall be used against players
  4. Coaches/parents who show ungentlemanly conduct to the referee will be reported to the referee coordinator and division coordinator.
Law XIII - FREE KICKS
  1. All free kicks are indirect. These free kicks will be awarded to the opposing team from the spot of any serious personal foul. These include a violent or dangerous charge, charging from behind, pushing or jumping, holding, striking, tripping, kicking, spitting at an opponent and handling the ball intentionally.
  2. A goal may not be scored until the ball has been played or touched by a second player of either team.
  3. No kicks by the attacking team are to be taken inside the defending teams goal box.
Law XIV - PENALTY KICKS

    There will be no penalty kicks awarded

Law XV - THROW INS

    Standard throw in rules apply.

When the entire ball passes over the sidelines it is put back into play by a throw-in. The throw-in has to occur within 5 yards of where the ball crossed the sideline and has to be thrown in from behind and over the head with both hands. Both feet must remain on the ground. They can be dragged along the ground but must remain in contact with the ground. The ball cannot be dropped. Part of each foot must be on or outside the sideline. A goal cannot be scored on a throw-in.

For all foul throw-ins the player is to retake the throw-in and the referee is to explain to that player what he is doing wrong.

Law XVI - GOAL KICKS
  1. Standard goal kick rules. Kick taken from within goal box.
  2. Opponents must be five (5) yards away from the ball.
Law XVII - CORNER KICKS

    Opponents are to be 5 yards from the ball.
